2018 Summer Greetings

“Rise above the storm and you will find the sunshine.”       Mario Fernandez (1946-2012)

Summer is finally here. Time for fairs, festivals, fireworks and fun. For a woman facing an unplanned pregnancy, it may be a season of increased anxiety, worry and distress. Rather than focusing on the precious life growing inside her, she may be fearful of what others may think or say and how she will possibly care for a baby.

Since 1971, Milwaukee Birthright has been helping women rise above the storm of a crisis pregnancy in support of life. No woman should have to choose abortion because she is unaware of the help and resources that are available during and after an unplanned pregnancy. We are here to offer Help and Hope. We provide free pregnancy tests, a 24/7 phone helpline, and supply referral information for doctors, medical insurance, adoption, and parenting classes. We have resource information for housing, jobs, continuing education, legal assistance, and whatever else may be needed.

One month before the baby is due or shortly after giving birth, Birthright provides this mom with blankets, bath supplies, diapers, and a complete baby’s first wardrobe. We encourage return visits for larger sized clothing; every three months for 0-24 months, sizes and every six months for 2T – 4T sizes. Our services and supplies are always provided free of charge to the women, men and babies we serve.   At Milwaukee Birthright, we also encourage greater involvement of fathers with our “Daddy Packs” of information. During 2017, we handled 1,241 requests for our help.

Thank you to everyone who attended our 47th Anniversary Dinner on April 20, 2018. The banquet and raffle were a great success. Our speaker, Bishop Jeffrey R. Haines, gave a powerful presentation on choices, women’s rights, and the most sacred of all rights----“the power to give birth to life”. An edited version of this speech appeared in the April 26, 2018 issue of the Catholic Herald.

Milwaukee Birthright is blessed with the addition of two new volunteers, Rosalie and Judy Z.   Additional volunteers are always welcome. Please consider joining our Birthright volunteer team and share the joy of helping others. Volunteer as little as four hours per month, in our office or taking calls on our helpline. Training is provided. Contact Judy at (414) 672-5433 or visit our web page at for a volunteer application.

Please consider a donation to Milwaukee Birthright with a one-time gift, monthly/ yearly giving support, or through your estate plans. We want to continue with our mission in support of life. Milwaukee Birthright, Inc. is a 501c3 charitable organization. Your gift is tax deductible.

Blessings to All,

Judy Fecteau, Birthright Volunteers, Birthright Board of Directors
